MEET THE MARKET – A GUIDE TO OUR FIRST POP-UP

The first Upper Dysart Larder Pop-Up Market Day is coming on Friday 29th July 2022 — here's what's in store...

Our first ever Pop-Up Market Day is less than two weeks away now, and we can't wait to welcome everyone to the farm for a memorable summer night (fingers crossed for good weather!)

To whet the appetite, we have prepared a short round-up of the makers, producers and vendors who'll be in attendance at the Pop-Up Market Day. Read on for all the info.

Scott Brothers Butchers — BBQ (Dundee)

We're delighted to welcome Scott Brothers butchers to Upper Dysart Larder as they run a BBQ for our first ever Pop-Up Market Day.

Menu is TBC, but rest assured they'll have a fine selection of meats, cooked to perfection for your enjoyment.

The Lobster Shop (Johnshaven)

The Lobster Shop aims to bring the freshest of local seafood — particularly lobster and crab — to the public. Their produce is landed straight from the local fishing boats and freshly prepared on site with some family favourite recipes and traditionally prepared shellfish too.

Here's what's on the menu:

  • Lobster Rolls
  • Lobster Salad
  • Partan Piece (Crab in a brioche bun)
  • Katsu Crab Roll
  • Crab & Leek Quiche
  • Crab Pâté
  • Dressed Lobster

Redcastle Gin (Toll House Spirits, Arbroath)

Redcastle Gin & Tonics will be served up at the Pop-Up Market Day — gin aficionados, take note!

Toll House Spirits is a family-owned spirits company, based in Arbroath. Named after the childhood home of their late mum Ruth, the Taranty Toll House near Brechin.

As a family, they spent lots of time at Lunan Bay, which is the inspiration for their Redcastle range of award winning gins, rums & liqueurs. Red Lichtie Gin, the official gin of Arbroath FC, joined their line up in 2021 and they also produce a range of drinks cabinet staples under the Toll House brand: gin, rums & vodka. Broughty Ferry Gin completes their portfolio of products, which supports the local lifeboat in the place they all call home.

Lesley Balfour Art (Dundee)

Local artist Lesley Balfour is a specialist in original handprinted linocuts and etchings — inspired by the culture, history and heritage of Angus.

Beautiful original artworks depicting coastal scenes, animal and natural life, signed by the artist — a wonderful addition to any home.

WeeCOOK Pies (Carnoustie)

WeeCOOK are a small independent restaurant, caterer and award-winning pie makers based at Barry Downs, near Carnoustie.

Their Fishwife pie is the current title holder of Best Fish Pie in Britain from the British Pie Awards and their Vegetarian Caponata Formaggio Pie is the current holder of the Scotch Pie Award Macleans Cup for the best speciality savoury pie in Scotland.

Fudge & Fancies (Brechin)

Fancy homemade fudges in all manner of delicious, sweet flavours — from classic Vanilla to Biscoff, Lemon Meringue and Mocha infusions, Fudge & Fancies bring memorable giftboxes and bags of goodies wherever they go.

If you've got a sweet tooth, this is the stall for you.

Ogilvy Vodka (Glamis)

Pick up a bottle of the finest Scottish vodka, made from Scottish tatties.

Ogilvy’s potatoes grow a short tractor ride from where they’re transformed into vodka. Everything is undertaken on their own farm to form a small-batch local liquor of international quality.

Their singular spirit is warm and welcoming, smooth and sweet. Its neutral essence makes it a great option for cocktails and a natural choice for the gluten-intolerant. Yet it’s a smart pick for anyone wishing to try a vodka that offers purity of palate alongside hidden depths of flavour.

Coco Velvet Brownies (Dundee)

Coco Velvet Brownies provide rich velvety brownies. All their brownies are made with the finest Belgian chocolate — super rich and super fudgy.

Fans of rich chocolate flavours, smooth texture and delicious toppings will want to play close attention to Coco Velvet Brownies and what they have on offer — it may not last long!

CreateFour Graphics (Arbroath)

Specialised in personalised signs for your kitchen, garage, barbecue area or home bar, CreateFour offer a range of services — from vehicle & shop signage to print solutions.

They will have over 80 different designs for sale at the Pop-Up and orders can be taken for personalised signs which will then posted out the following week. There will also be mugs, coasters and chopping boards for sale, as well as t-shirts and aprons available to choose from.
