In recent years, it's been really exciting for us to be involved with the Scottish Rural Leadership programme — led by Scottish Enterprise, in partnership with Highland and Islands Enterprise and the South of Scotland Enterprise.
The programme has helped various members of our family / team gain valuable leadership skills, meet new contacts and explore the possibilities of rural business across Scotland and beyond. The opportunity to travel abroad and meet rural leaders from different countries and cultures has been a a terrific experience too.
Recently we had the opportunity to 'return the favour' for the hospitality we've enjoyed elsewhere by welcoming a cohort of Rural Leaders to Upper Dysart Larder. The group included programme participants from across Scotland and a delegation of rural leaders from Georgia, USA.
It was a thrill to welcome this group to Upper Dysart Farm, give them a guided tour of the Larder, Hay & Play and other facilities, and enjoy a relaxed lunch at the Larder as a group. We love hearing the reactions of people from near and far at what we've built here over the past few years, and a good time was had by all.
The team from SoilEssentials also joined us and delivered a great talk to the group on the future of farming machinery — our thanks go to them for bringing their expertise.
